Dedicated to the actor's creative freedom
'The role of the artist is to transmit to humanity the deepest experience of reality.'
what I do
I work as an acting teacher, coach and director. I have taught acting, movement, directed and worked as an actor for more than 20 years in the UK and Poland, Europe and Australia. I originally trained as director, then as an actor, and have taught and directed at many major and independent drama schools, including Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, RADA, East 15, Guildford School of Acting, Drama Studio London and Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company. My work has focused for many years on the Polish and Russian acting traditions, processes and pedagogy. I worked for a bunch of years in Poland in the post-Grotowski lineage of work, and in recent years my work has been dedicated to exploring, teaching and directing with the work of little known Russian acting teacher, Nikolai Demidov: the Demidov Organic Acting Technique. I love this work because I am passionate about the actor’s creative process and facilitating the actor’s freedom and organic spontaneity, without which, all the technique in the world is useless.
I Teach.
I have taught acting, and movement, at a number of drama schools and actor training institutions, internationally, for close to 20 years. I run regular Demidov technique workshops.
I Direct.
I direct with my own London-based company, The Tribe Theatre Collective, and also as a freelance director – including at major London drama schools.
I Coach.
I work as an individual acting coach for actors looking to develop their work, to resolve particular obstacles, or for those preparing for auditions for acting jobs or drama school.
